Things Layla Loves volume 6

1.    We officially have a walker. It has been so much fun and so exhausting chasing our little explorer around.
2.    She has always thought it was funny when we clapped. She used to cheer as we would clap. She enjoyed holding our hands to make us clap and she now loves clapping on her own. She doesn't always make noise but she sure thinks it’s fun.
3.    She really loves any of the games on my dad’s iPad but this is probably one of her favorites. It does involve music afterall.
4.    Dancing Santas have been a hit this season. She would carry the one on the right (by his hat) around the house as he sang and danced.
5.    This is one of the funniest things to do. The progression of “Where’s Layla?” has gone from us popping up to find her to us covering her face and asking “Where’s Layla?” to her pulling the blanket up and down after we did it a few times to her pulling her own dress up and down to keep us entertained with “Where’s Layla?” on Christmas day while visiting with Justin’s family. She is so smart and *so* funny!
6.    Spaghetti. If it’s messy, it’s good.
7.    I’ve gone back and forth with how I feel about her playing with my phone but the truth is that I always have my phone on me and am always sticking it in her face to take pictures or talk to Daddy. She’s started putting any phone and her hands to her ears and saying “haaaaa”. It’s absolutely precious and hilarious. Might as well train her the right way to use it!
8.    Santa was probably one of Layla’s favorite people in the world. She had so much awe for him and I think he was quite fond of her too! She just stared into his eyes and at his beard and smiled so big. He blew her a kiss as we walked away and her eyes LIT up. Wishing for a similar situation next year.
9.    She loves high fives. She has loved them for quite some time but I honestly haven’t ever captured a good picture of it. She is now good at high fiving us back and thinks it’s funny when our hands make noise.
10.  Little Tikes Nativity Set has been a hit. She likes to make the angel sing. If Layla had it her way, there would be a few balls, cups and books at the manger. I’m just thankful for an opportunity to begin sharing the Christmas story with my sweet girl.

Baby girl is getting closer and closer to not being a baby. I am daily noticing her turning into a little girl. She will always be my baby girl, though.

Eleven months old on Saturday. Oh my.

Hope you had a blessed and merry Christmas!

Things Layla Loves volume 5

Wow. I am super behind on getting this up. To be honest, I have been waiting to see if Layla would actually walk before I posted it. It hasn't happened but is definitely close.

There are so many things that she truly loves to do that it is really hard to narrow it down to just ten.

1} She really loved the pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. She kept wanted to feel them and tried to pull the stems off!

2} She will try and rip anything that resembles paper. So, don't give her money. She is very strong.

3} She will literally pull up on anything. She thinks it is hilarious to stand up in her crib. It makes for a nice treat when we come get her after naps and first thing in the morning (which is 6:30 thanks to DST. I am just thankful she isn't waking up at 2 anymore)

4} She has discovered that she can open ANY cabinet. And she tries. This picture was literally her first attempt & it thrilled her. Now, we have babyproofed but it hasn't stopped her from trying. She is one determined and curious little babe.

5} She is fascinated by things in boxes and could explore them all day. Really, anything that appears just out of reach is the perfect thing to keep Layla entertained. The box she is looking in holds "Layla friendly" boxes and kitchen items but is also difficult for her to really get in to. Doesn't mean the girl won't give it a valiant effort.

6} She started climbing over us about a month ago. She has since climbed over me as I was laying on my side, she has climbed up one step (with me right by her side, of course), she has climbed over a pile of clothes on the ground. She has no limits. This makes me nervous :)

7} She has started sticking her tongue out a lot. It cracks me up. My boss says that she might be feeling her teeth with her tongue. That makes sense. Whatever it is, I love it. and so does she.

8} She loves tags (from clothing) like she loves paper. She thinks it's fun to hold the tag in one hand and flick it with the other. She also loves tags that are made of fabric or ribbon (but what baby doesn't)

9} Seriously, she could do this all day.

10} The first time she waved, Justin was at work. I cried. Seriously. I was so excited for him to get home and see it. Since then, she waves at us all the time. It is the sweetest thing.

I love this...

Seriously, the sweetest thing in the world. Love my family.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Things Layla Loves volume 4

I should have posted this a couple of weeks ago but I knew little miss was on the verge of crawling.
Which means...SHE IS CRAWLING {see picture 6}!
She took her first little moves on September 11 while we were at my cousin's house.
I say she was inspired by my cousin's little boy {who is a month and a half older than Layla} who is such a fun little army crawler!
Since then, she has been going & going and all of the sudden her crawling ability just about quadrupled.
It's been fun. So. Much. Fun.
I love seeing her little self more all over the place to explore, chase us and move to just move.
I love her so much.

She also has her FIRST TOOTH {not pictured}!
It's so fun to see it but I know she has been in pain :(
Number two is coming right behind it.

  • Swinging is probably her absolute favorite thing to do.
  • Puffs might be one of MY favorite things along with hers. Dinners out are already so much more fun!
  • A few days after she started crawling, she decided she was ready to pull herself up. I'm impressed. But I am also always on the lookout for things she could get her hands on.
  • I dunno, shoulder time might be as exciting as swinging.
  • That Zany Zoo is absolutely brilliant. Joni from Lay Baby Lay inspired me to pick this piece up because her sweet baby girl {Vivi} loves hers so much. I am so glad we now own it because it is truly incredible and will be a wonderful learning and playing tool for years!
  • Up until the last month, books have been lovely for chewing on {despite our nightly readings}. Now, she has discovered the wonderful images, colors, noises, textures, etc. that come along with books. She sees a book and her eyes light up. She laughs hysterically when I make animal noises and smiles when she sees faces. I love that she enjoys books.
  • Ok, y'all. Bath time. Seriously. She loves it...especially in the sink. Can't explain it!
  • She gives the best, best, best kisses in the world. Sloppy wet ones.
  • She makes strolls desirable. She has such a wonderful ability to brighten the days of everyone who sees her smile. Because, if you smile at her, she'll smile at you.

J & I are so unbelievably blessed to have a daughter who is able to bring joy to *seriously* EVERYONE. She is the most amazing little gift in the whole world.
